The Pre-Professional Program

Pre-professional Classification
First-year students entering the university directly from high school and intending to follow the CLS/MT curriculum may indicate, on the application to the university, their desire to be classified as a Clinical Laboratory Science major. They will be admitted to the program as pre-Clinical Laboratory Science (PCL) students.
Pre-professional Course Requirements
The following courses or their equivalents must be completed before beginning the professional program:
General Education:
Communications A
English 100 or equivalent (3 credits), or exemption by placement examination.

All courses that qualify for Communication A are designated in the "ge" column of the Timetable by "a".

Communications B
Certain humanities and social studies courses staisfy the Communication B requirement. Those courses may be counted for humanities or social studies as well as Communication B. Communication B courses are designated in the "ge" column of the Timetable by "b". (3 credits)

Quantitative Reasoning A
All courses that qualify for Quantitative Reasoning A are designated in the "ge" column of the Timetable by "q".

CLS program requires either both 112(q) and 113, or 114(q).

Note: Math 112 alone fulfills the University's Quantitative Reasoning A requirement but not the CLS Program requirement.

Quantitative Reasoning B
Program Electives which meet the Quantitative Reasoning B requirement are designated both below and in the "ge" column of the Timetable by "r".
